Zac authors the architecture essay. His subject is the World Model of Work, and why owning whether the work carries through cannot be retrieved from documents.

Background

Zac built the engineering systems that grew SugarCRM from an open-source project into a public-market business. At Brief he leads the team building the World Model of Work, the maintained, evolving substrate that the Executive Intelligence category depends on.

He writes Essay 05, The architecture. The argument runs in three moves. Retrieval does not anticipate. Owning whether the work carries through requires a maintained model that lives outside the language model, not one reconstructed from documents each session. Privacy is part of the architecture, not a policy laid on top of it.

What he's writing about

Zac's voice in the Papers is technical without being technical for its own sake. Engineers should feel respected. CTOs should be able to forward the essay to their boards without translation. The four diagnostic questions the essay introduces are the architectural test any reader can apply to any product in the category.
